The mission of the DeKalb Library Foundation is to provide support for DeKalb County Public Library beyond public funding and to enrich the lives of DeKalb County citizens through educational, cultural and literary programs and services. The Foundation values a literate community, open access to information, and the library as a community gathering place. The DeKalb Library Foundation envisions the DeKalb County Public Library as a resource for a lifetime of learning that will build an educated, informed DeKalb community.
The Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible.
DeKalb County Public Library is a place to grow. The library enlightens and enriches the people of DeKalb County by providing responsive, dynamic services that meet the changing informational, educational, and recreational needs of a diverse population. The library offers more than 1.2 million items to borrow to its more than 160,000 cardholders. Each year, more than 4,000 programs are hosted at 23 library locations around the county. In 2018, the Georgia Public Library Service named DeKalb County Public Library the Library of the Year.
