Mission & Vision

The mis­sion of the DeKalb Library Foun­da­tion is to pro­vide sup­port for DeKalb Coun­ty Pub­lic Library beyond pub­lic fund­ing and to enrich the lives of DeKalb Coun­ty cit­i­zens through edu­ca­tion­al, cul­tur­al and lit­er­ary pro­grams and ser­vices. The Foun­da­tion val­ues a lit­er­ate com­mu­ni­ty, open access to infor­ma­tion, and the library as a com­mu­ni­ty gath­er­ing place. The DeKalb Library Foun­da­tion envi­sions the DeKalb Coun­ty Pub­lic Library as a resource for a life­time of learn­ing that will build an edu­cat­ed, informed DeKalb community.

The Foun­da­tion is a 501c3 non­prof­it orga­ni­za­tion. All dona­tions are tax-deductible. 

DeKalb Coun­ty Pub­lic Library is a place to grow. The library enlight­ens and enrich­es the peo­ple of DeKalb Coun­ty by pro­vid­ing respon­sive, dynam­ic ser­vices that meet the chang­ing infor­ma­tion­al, edu­ca­tion­al, and recre­ation­al needs of a diverse pop­u­la­tion. The library offers more than 1.2 mil­lion items to bor­row to its more than 160,000 card­hold­ers. Each year, more than 4,000 pro­grams are host­ed at 23 library loca­tions around the coun­ty. In 2018, the Geor­gia Pub­lic Library Ser­vice named DeKalb Coun­ty Pub­lic Library the Library of the Year.
